Mauermuseum
Mauermuseum – Haus am Checkpoint Charlie (Friedrichstraße 43-45, Berlin Kreuzberg) – the small building where “Checkpoint Charlie” was located (the once infamous crossing between Russian-controlled East Berlin, and the U.S.-controlled enclave of West Berlin), shows various items and contraptions that former East Berlin residents used in their attempt to escape to the West (such as hot-air balloons, escape cars, homemade mini-submarines and deceptively hollow surfboards). Along with the Berlin Wall section, there are exhibits dedicated to various global human rights issues. Admission: €12.50 (adult), €9.50 (students), €5.50 (disabled), free for children up to 6 years. Hours: 9 am – 10 pm daily.
