Frankfurt Cathedral

Catedral de Frankfurt
Frankfurt Cathedral (Domplatz 14, Frankfurt) — the current Frankfurt Cathedral was once a Carolingian chapel. Although called a cathedral since the 18th century, it never was an episcopal church in the true sense. With the relocation of the coronation ceremonies for Holy Roman kings from Aachen to Frankfurt in 1562 (with ten emperors crowned there from that year to 1792), the monastery was given the honorary title of “cathedral”, which has remained to this day. After a fire in 1867, it was restored in neo-Gothic style. With the Cathedral badly damaged (again) during World War II bombings, it was eventually restored by the mid-1950s. Hours: 9 am – 6 pm (April – October), 10 am – 5 pm (November – March).
